How to Spot Infidelity
- The most obvious and important sign of infidelity is if your spouse becomes secretive about his or her electronics. Has she recently locked her cell phone or put a new password on her computer? Does he close his phone or computer when you come around?
- An important sign is when your spouse becomes distant. This can be either emotional or physical. This distance can grow subtly at first, but it can gradually create a greater divide between you.
- Your spouse may also have another bank account set up so you can't see all of his or her financial transactions. You may notice that the amount that is being deposited in your account has gone down. It may not be a large amount. It may only be $20 at a time, but you should notice a difference.
- Your spouse may also become angry, resentful, critical and sometimes cruel to you. 70% of people surveyed reported these problems before finding out about the other person is having an affair. If your spouse is exhibiting these traits and you can't figure out why, then look for other signs of infidelity.
- If your spouse is expressing the need to work longer hours, attend more after-work meetings, or travel on out-of-town business trips for extended periods of time, he or she may have strayed.
- Is your spouse much more focused on his or her physical appearance? Losing a a good deal of weight, going to the gym constantly, constantly checking the mirror and primping are all potential indicators of infidelity.
- A sad but true sign is the faithful spouse may be sick or ill at the time. If you are ill and your spouse doesn't seem to be around to help out often, frequently goes on long errands, or has an increase in work hours, that might be a sign of infidelity
- Your spouse may exhibit an increased outlook and have increased energy. He may start to do something he hasn't done in a while, or she may try more new things. However, this new or renewed interest is usually outside the home and does not include you. At home, you might find that your spouse is lethargic and even depressed.
- Being unnecessarily defensive about common subjects or even lying about simple things that don't matter a lot is also a sign that your spouse might be hiding something much more significant.
Please do not take only one of these signs as absolute proof of infidelity. Rather look at the list and see if more than a couple fit your spouse's recent actions. It is also important to remember to wait for a little while to ensure that these signs are consistent before jumping to the conclusion of infidelity.
